Época's review on my book

2019-03-28 [Petri]

In a very critical story on the apparently continuing expansion of the Flat Earth Movement, the distinguished Brazilian journalist Helio Gurovitz reviews my book, "Flat Out Wrong: The Overwhelming Evidence Against Flat Earth".

He writes: "One of the most surprising things is that the book by Petri Launiainen is one of the rare works attacking this movement."

He continues: "This detailed book breaks down the mystique of flat Earth piece by piece [...] The book explains everyday events from sunset to the changing of the seasons, the way boats behave visually as they approach the horizon, movements of stars and eclipses, and finally even the midnight sun [...] Launiainen explains all these phenomena with precision and patience."

[ my translation from the original Portuguese ]

Thanks to this rare dose of publicity from the on-line edition of the second largest weekly magazine in Brazil, my book held #1 position in all of its three Kindle categories in Brazil last weekend, and made #1 again this week as the paper version was published.

Not bad for a book that was written out of a whim as a time filler and a test of the Kindle platform while I was waiting for my first book's typesetting process to finish...

The growing publicity has also gotten the hardline supporters of flat Earth to start coming out of the woodwork, just as I expected in the Epilogue of my book: one "reviewer" uses irrefutable facts to attack my writing, stating "Illuminati propaganda!! Satan deceived the whole world!! Don’t buy!!".

If you have read the book and find its ample set of examples sound enough to convince you of the shape of our planet, please join the "real truthers' movement" and write a short review on the book.

In Gurovitz's words: "These "zetetics" may look like a harmless bunch of wackos, but who can guarantee that they won't soon be deciding over our environment, healthcare, international relations or universities?"
